Completing your Self Assessment Tax return can be confusing and stressful, especially as the deadline gets ever closer.

This year it could be even more stressful than usual for some people.

CB Reid has learned that a problem has been identified at HMRC whereby some tax returns are being received but not processed. We know that many people wait for HMRC to issue a statement before they pay anything, however, if they have been affected by this problem, one won’t be issued. Equally, if you paid online last year, a statement also won’t be issued.

CB Reid wants everyone to know that tax liabilities are still due by the 31st January 2018, even in the absence of the statement or payslip from HMRC. Please don’t hesitate to contact CB Reid if you think you have been affected by this problem and we’d be more than happy to help.

Don’t forget that your payment reference is your 10 digit unique tax reference (UTR) followed by the letter ‘k’.
